Micron to Invest US$830 Million in Hiroshima Facility
October 12, 2015

Micron Technology plans to increase its spending on chip production and R&D by 40% to US$5.8 billion in the fiscal year ending August 2016, with over 100 billion yen (US$830 million; US$1=120.48 yen) to be injected into its Hiroshima plant in Japan, reported Nikkei on October 11. The investment will enable the Hiroshima plant to use 16-nanometer process technology, aiming to begin mass production by the first half of 2016. After implementing the technology at the Hiroshima plant, Micron expects to make further investments at other production sites located in the United States, Japan, and Taiwan.
